Katie Portman (KP)

Katie Portman (KP) is an Americorps State Team Member serving with the curation team through the summer of 2025. KP is a registered professional archaeologist with work experience across the southwestern US in both contract and academic settings. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to Tucson in 2020 to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Arizona, where she studied Ancestral Pueblo agricultural practices throughout northern New Mexico. KP is passionate about sustainability, community engagement, and place-based education, and she strives to apply knowledge about the past to address social issues in the present. KP is honored to live, work, and learn on Tohono O’odham lands.
