FREE, with $5 suggested donation upon entering the garden

July Topic: Monsoon Agriculture

Monsoon Agriculture: Watch your Plants Grow

This month's Traditional O'odham Agriculture presentation will be on July 16. Mission Garden's Maegan Lopez and Ajo CSA's Sterling Johnson will be in the O'odham Garden to demonstrate traditional O'odham agricultural practices and answer questions. This time they will be showing people how corn, squash and other crops are progressing. What do they look like as they grow? What are the O'odham terms for these crops and their specific characteristics: flowers, corn tassels, corn silk, etc? Come and take in the sensory experience of luxuriant summer growth and how it's seen through the lens of the O'odham culture and language.

By attending this event every month you will get the full sweep of seasonal agricultural practices. These presentations are free with the suggested $5 per person donation when you enter Mission Garden.
