Traditional O’odham Agriculture

Every third Saturday of the month
At Mission Garden’s Placita (near the kitchen)
This event is FREE. All gifts are appreciated

Maegan Lopez and Ajo CSA agriculturalist DeAnndra Porter continue this Mission Garden tradition of talks and demonstrations about O'odham Agriculture. They talk about traditions associated with Native American crops like corn, beans and squash, and how crops brought by Europeans were integrated into O'odham agriculture. This month they are talking about what’s happening in what looks like fallow winter gardens: Germination of wildflowers and edible weeds, and soil preparation for spring and summer planting.

This is a great collaboration between Mission Garden and Ajo Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
