This February, join Mission Garden to learn more about cardoon. Cardoons are the artichoke look-alike plants in the Spanish Colonial Vegetable Garden and other places around Mission Garden. Well adapted to arid regions, cardoons require only moderate irrigation. Although the fruit is edible, like small spiny artichokes, cardoons are cultivated for their fleshy stalks, which resemble celery but are rarely eaten raw. Come learn about this unique, easy-to-grow crop!
