Growing Great Garlic
Saturday November 4, 2023, 8am-11am
(Repeats on Saturday November 11)
At Mission Garden’s North Field
This event is FREE. All monetary gifts are appreciated.
At Mission Garden’s "Growing Great Garlic" information table, visitors can see the soil in which we plant garlic, learn about fertilizer, mulch, planting depth/spacing, and garlic varieties–there are several that will grow here. There will be recipes for realizing the benefits of garlic.
Fall and early winter are great times to plant garlic. For this reason we'll be selling the variety we're calling Chinapa for $2/head. It's from Rio Sonora, grown by Javier Castillon. Of course you can eat it too! But with all the interest in garlic we’ve been seeing, we wanted people to be able to plant their own!
The Growing Great Garlic table will be near the North Field, located in the east-center of the garden.
Please reach out to Kendall Kroesen, Mission Garden Outreach Coordinator at kendall@missiongarden.org for additional information.
