Chinese Garden at Mission Garden
In the morning Mission Garden launches an Autumn Moon Celebration in our Chinese Garden. The garden will be decorated with Chinese lanterns. There will be yummy traditional mooncakes for sale, and special tastes of cooked luffa.
At about 10:30am visit the Chinese Garden to hear pipa music. Sometimes called the "Chinese lute," this instrument has a pear-shaped wooden body, four strings, and a variable number of frets. It dates back to perhaps as early as the Han dynasty.
There will also be printed information about the history of the Autumn Moon celebration.
From 4-6pm please also visit our partners at the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center (TCCC) for their big Autumn Moon Celebration at 1288 W River Road. This is one of the center's major annual events. More information about their celebration is available at www.tucsonchinese.org.
Thanks to the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center for helping to arrange music and mooncakes at Mission Garden! This event is free with a suggested $5 per person donation at the front gate.
