Emilee Prado has a background in property renovation and maintenance as well as public service work, teaching, and writing. She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, but made Tucson her home in 2020 when pandemic restrictions shuffled her back to the US from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil where she had been working as an English teacher. From 2015-2019, she lived and taught in Lopburi, Thailand.

Emilee holds degrees in the arts. She has a BA in Film Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder and an MSc in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh.

Through her AmeriCorps service position at Mission Garden, she hopes to gain practical skills in agricultural maintenance and sustainability while learning from those who have been inhabiting the Sonoran Desert for the last 4,000 years.
