Heritage Fruit Trees and Backyard Propagation Class

Saturday February 26, 9am - noon, $60
CLASS IS FULL Space is limited, please sign up and pay HERE

Mission Garden has heritage fruit trees of many varieties. Have you ever wondered how to grow new heritage fruit trees in your own yard? Every year in February Jesús García teaches how to grow new Kino Heritage Fruit Trees from the ones at the Garden. Learn about the amazing origins of the Garden's heritage trees, how to take cuttings, and how to root those cuttings to grow new trees. All class members will go home with some cuttings!

The class is limited to 10 individuals. (Ten other registrants from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum's Education Program will join the class.)

Jesús García is an Education Specialist at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and a member of the Friends of Tucson's Birthplace Board of Directors (more about Jesús here).

Consider becoming a Tree Steward for a Kino Heritage Fruit Tree in the Mission Garden Orchard or a native tree on the Mission Garden grounds. Your tax-deductible donation of $1,000 allows you to choose one from the fruit or native trees still available, includes a permanent dedication plaque at the base of your tree with its name and a custom message from the donor and will go to maintain your tree for years to come.
