Making Lime Hydrosols w/ Martha Burgess (Recorded Video 43 mins), $25
A class recorded in February 2021 by ethnobotanist Martha Burgess
Hydrosols are gently fragrant, water-based distillations that can be used in refreshing atomized sprays, cosmetics, and effective aromatherapies. Distilled from fresh or dried aromatic flowers, leaves, or other plant material, hydrosols contain micro-droplets of essential oils and can give surprising benefits. We may even discover new uses in this outdoor experience. Using Mission Garden’s very fragrant Mexican sweet lime fruits, this class will teach you principles and methods for making a hydrosol. You will learn methods that you can use in your own kitchen with aromatic garden or wild plants.
Our instructor Martha Ames Burgess is a Tucson-based naturalist, ethnobotanist, writer, artist, and alternative teacher and owner of FlordeMayoArts.com. She is an Adjunct Professor at Tohono O'odham Community College and has been involved in hands-on education at Native Seeds/SEARCH, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and many other Tucson environmental and educational institutions.
