Izamar Barrandey
A Tucson native, Izamar Barrandey helps care for Mission Garden’s collection of native and desert-adapted heritage plants. She works alongside staff and volunteers to nurture this living connection to Tucson’s agricultural past, helping desert crops and growing practices continue to thrive.
Iza earned her bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Plant Systems with a focus on urban horticulture and desert plant care from the University of Arizona. She enjoys blending scientific knowledge with hands-on experience in the garden and sharing what she learns with others. Iza is passionate about the beauty and resilience of desert plants and loves helping people connect with the history and community they represent.
